Free Online Audio Noise Remover
Clean up background hiss, hum, fan noise and static from any audio file with an on-device spectral noise reducer. Hear the effect before you export. No upload, no watermark, no account required.
If your voiceover has fan noise, room hum, air conditioning, laptop hiss or traffic underneath it, a noise remover can make the important part easier to hear. GrepCut subtracts a spectral noise profile from the signal, so steady background sound is reduced while your speech or music remains the focus.
This is useful when you recorded a podcast segment in a bedroom, captured narration during a screen recording, saved an interview from a phone, or need a quick cleanup before publishing. You do not need to install a full audio editor just to check whether the recording can be improved.
GrepCut runs the denoising pass in your browser with a WebAssembly spectral reducer and browser media APIs. Your audio is decoded, processed and previewed on your device, so the file is not uploaded to a server.
That matters when your recording contains client calls, private interviews, unreleased music, classroom material or personal voice notes. You can test the cleanup, export the result and leave without creating an account.
Can you remove background noise from audio without uploading it?
Yes. GrepCut processes your file in your browser with a WebAssembly denoiser, so your audio does not leave your device.
Can you preview the noise reduction before exporting?
Yes. After you add your file, use the preview player to hear the denoised version. Move Strength and Sensitivity, then replay the section until the balance sounds right.
What audio formats can you denoise?
You can use common formats your browser can decode, including MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG and FLAC. Browser support can vary by device and file encoding.
Why does your cleaned audio export as AAC?
The noise-reduction pass rewrites the audio samples, so the cleaned result has to be encoded again. GrepCut exports the denoised file as AAC.
Can you remove hiss but keep quiet speech or whispers?
You can reduce hiss around quiet speech, but use gentle settings. If Sensitivity or Strength is too high, soft consonants, whispers and room detail can be removed along with the noise.
Can you denoise a video file with this tool?
This page accepts audio files only. If your sound is inside a video, extract the audio first with [Video to MP3](/converters/video-to-mp3), or open the video in [GrepCut Studio](/) for full editing.
Can noise reduction fix echo, clipping or voices talking over each other?
Not reliably. This tool is designed for background noise such as hiss, hum and room tone. Echo, clipping, sudden impacts and overlapping voices usually need different repair or editing work.
Can you keep editing after removing noise?
Yes. Export the cleaned audio, then open it in [GrepCut Studio](/) if you want to trim, mix, add captions or continue editing on a timeline.
